created a series of SHOWCASE evenings....not dependant upon nor dictated
by mainstream commercial radio, video, and rec co marketing, but which
emphasizes the natural bond-experience between artist and night
club fan - which is best nurtured in an intimate live concert setting...
and can result in the building of a real street-level grassroots following... Tuesday Nu Music Nites A NO COVER 6 year old weekly showcase series, sponsored by Canada's highest profile modern rock radio station, 102.1 the Edge CFNY. Tuesdays are hosted by DJ BOOKIE, and feature cutting edge Nu Music from 9:45 to 1:00 am. The Series has featured the Toronto debuts of Tracey Bonham, Everclear, Ash, Catatonia, Semi-Sonic, Feul, Harvey Danger, Tonic, Candyskins, Local H, Sneaker Pimps, Hovercraft, Cree Summer, Jimmies Chicken Shack, Old 97's, Robbie Fulks, Slobberbone, V-Roys, Dan Bern, Meredith Brooks, Katek Keineg, Flashing Lights, Goldfinger, Reel Big Fish, Mustard Plug, Nerfherder, Bloodhound Gang, Nada Surf, and hoards of then unknown Indie National Canadian Artists.....As it is always NO COVER, artist renumeration is minimal, but more importantly, we guarantee an turnout of 150-300, friendlier than anywhere staff and techs, free cold beer, draft, juice, & pop, and a receptive audience of resident music fans & industry...NMN is a superb first shoe introductory play for local and provincial alternative and indie artists...
Shoeless Mondays A NO COVER 3 year old weekly showcase series, featuring cutting non-alternative rock n pop from 9:45 to 12:30 am. The series has featured the likes of Coal Chamber, Tripping Daisy, and Hankdogs, but is where virtually every local Toronto area artist begins at The Shoe, before graduating to other nites...As it is always NO COVER, artist renumeration is a minumum $50.00, and cold beer, draft, juice, and pop...Shoeless is a non-pressure DIY breeding ground for future weekend local headliners...
